Ladies AidThe Ladies Aid Society of Bethel Lutheran Church, the church’s first organization, was founded in 1908. The ladies at that time made and quilted quilts to raise funds to help with the expense necessary to get a church of their own. They also served chicken suppers and lunches at farm sales in the early days of the organization, all to raise money with which to help keep the small church congregation on its feet. Since they were the only organization for ladies for many years, they were called upon many times for financial aid. Bethel GuildThe Bethel Guild was organized in October, 1927, under the guidance of Pastor O.A. Dieter. Twenty women attended the first meeting in the old parsonage. The purpose of the organization was, and is, to promote socialability and assist with the work of the church whenever possible. Many and varied have been the activities which were promoted to carry out their goals; always an effort has been made to add substantially to the church building fund. Among their present projects are included the annual fashion review, sale of greeting cards, bakery sales and the serving of banquets to various groups meeting at our church. Junior Luther LeagueDue for the need for fellowship for children while in confirmation class training, on December 4, 1957, the Junior Luther League was organized. Married Couples ClubIn January, 1950 a group of fifteen married couples, under the leadership of Pastor and Mrs. Landgrebe, organized the “Young Married Couples Club”. Since then the “Young” in the name of the organization was dropped since married couples of all ages were encouraged to join the fellowship. The organization really has two objectives: to provide an evening for good Christian fellowship for husband and wife together, and to raise funds to assist in the work of the congregation. The BrotherhoodThe Bethel Brotherhood, long an active organization of the church, is a member of the Ill. District Brotherhood of the Am. Lutheran church. Objectives are; to stimulate interest in the kingdom of god, serve the church and provide Christian fellowship among the men of the church.
